I wish the outputs were a bit hotter, but they are ok. The main feature that I've been looking for is 4 balanced outputs for running clean signals for synths, bass, clicks and rhythm loops back to the console in live situations. Beats having to send equipment back.īottom line is that I like the 6i6 thus far. I bought my unit from Guitar Center, and took advantage of their 30-day return policy, which is why I continue to buy certain items from them. I just hope I never forget to close it before a performance. It is a brilliant utility and very useful to me now that I know how to work around this big issue. Might have to get the older 8i6.ĭo you think it is a problem with the actual unit or just software issues? As you see in my above post, I believe all of my problems can be linked to MixControl. Seems I will need to check around more before buying. John how much is it costing you to send the unit back each time? Or is the shipping cost reimbursed or covered? Is it possible something is wrong on your computer itself or issue within a certain DAW or bugs in Mix Control update or the Scarlett drivers buggy with your version of Windows or Mac? Just wondering why 3 units in a row would have problems, but most others are not reporting many problems. But, it obviously buggy and has to be handled with kid gloves or it will blow up in your face! It allows me to set different mixes for live and studio situations. I hope there is a simple solution for this problem other than not running MixControl which is one of the main reasons I chose the Focusrite box over other brands. I did a quick search of the internet and found that others have had this same issue.įocusrite Scarlett "NO HARDWARE CONNECTED" So my conclusion is that there is a problem with MixControl. I then started MixControl with the DAW playing the audio and within 2 seconds the 6i6 locked up and MixControl reported "No Hardware Found". The Scarlett 6i6 did not lock up even if I drove the DAW output to clipping. I then closed MixControl and repeated my the same tests. Then, I saved the configuration in MixControl to the 6i6 using the File -> Save To Hardware menu option. I tried this without connecting the outputs to the mixer and had the same result. I didn't even raise the level to clipping on the meters. As soon as I raised the volume levels, the unit locked up. As long as I kept the output levels low on the meters, the unit was stable. I was able to reproduce this ten times in a row. Once I turned the audio output higher from the DAW and levels started crossing the 0dB mark in MixControl, the unit immediately locked up and MixControl reported "No Hardware Connected". ![]() At low output levels, the unit performed fine. Then I started MixControl (version 1.5.128.0) and played audio files using Sonar through the Scarlett 6i6. What I found is the following:įirst, I removed all USB devices from the computer except the Scarlett 6i6. I performed more experiments this evening. I really want this device to work for me, so any help to get the MixControl working would be greatly appreciated. But this isn't working out as I had planned. I bought the 18i20 as a backup to my Lynx Hilo (which is in the shop for a headphone output issue) and as a means to ADAT in some pres. The other system does not have Cubase, so when I use MixControl to play Windows Media Player (or Firefox or IE youtube) it runs fine for about 3-4 minutes then displays that same message. If there is no sound playing it is fine, when the sound starts the Mix Control dies as described. Same behavior without Cubase and using Windows Media Player, or Firefox, or IE. However when I try to use MixControl it dies abouty after 30-40 seconds and displays the "NO HARDWARE CONNECTED" message. On one system when using the 18i20 and Cubase without the MixControl seems to work fine, other than the Master Control and Dim/Mute not functioning (maybe a future thread). I preformed tests on both systems completely stripped of all Firewire and USB devices other than mouse/keyboard and license dongles. I am using latest MixControl and Scarlett USB drivers. Just purchased the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 and have had issues using MixControl on two similarly configured Win 7 64bit Intel i7 systems. ![]()
